Lidl is a new (to you) budget grocery store. It’s been in Germany for years and recently made the move to the US, just like Aldi. These small grocery stores offer all necessities while reducing the chaotic over abundance of brands. This system makes the cost of their products cheaper AND reduces your shopping time!
Lidl and Aldi are a bit different. While they both provide very frugal store brand options, Lidl carries more name brands. Often, items are cheaper at Aldi but occasionally you’ll find a better deal at Lidl.
In all reality you can find delicious vegan foods in any store if you stick to basic foods like beans, pasta, and veggies. However, when it comes to vegan boxed or pre-made foods, Aldi is the leading store. Aldi offers vegan cheese, hot dogs, burgers and more, but does not have tofu. Lidl, on the other hand, offers tofu and plant based yogurts but not many other alternatives. I also could not find coconut milk or soy milk at Lidl US. Let’s hope as they grow in popularity they will add more options.
On my last Lidl vegan food haul I made sure to take pictures of all the vegan options I could find. The vegan food list below will help you with your meal planning and grocery shopping at Lidl US.
Lidl US Vegan Finds and Shopping List
Of course, Lidl carries all necessities like spices, grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen vegetables, and more. The list below provides specific vegan finds along with all your typical grocery needs.
#1 Vegan Pizza
Lidl US currently carries two vegan pizza options.
Lidl US offers the typical American bread (toast) but it also offers the German-style bakery with fresh baked goods. The pretzel buns and dinner rolls are our favorites!
Tahini is basically ground sesame seeds high in calcium. It can be used in place of peanut butter or as a base for dressings and sauces.
#4 Hummus and dips
You can also pick the ready to go tahini dip for your vegetables. Lidl also carries guacamole, salsa, and plenty of hummus options.
Not all gnocchi is vegan, so you have to read the label. This one below is all plant based! I love to make this gnocchi asparagus spinach recipe.
#6 Harvest protein bowl
In the freezer section I found this plant based harvest bowl. It is very low on calories, so it might not fill you. But it’s perfect as a quick snack or on the go meal.
#7 Organic Vegan
If you are also choosing organic food, Lidl carries a whole wall filled with affordable organic options as well as organic produce.
#8 Vegan Muesli Bars and Energy Bars
Lidl’s muesli bars come with different flavors. The apple and cranberry versions are vegan.
Try these vegan energy bars shown in the photo below.
#9 Salad Kit
Most of the salad kits are not vegan, except this Asian Style salad kit.
#10 Veggie spring rolls
#11 Stir Fry Vegetable
Both stir fry veggies below are plant based. Serve them with some rice.
#12 Salad dressings
You can find frugal vegan salad dressings and also organic options.
#13 Plant Based Milk
Lidl US carries Almond Breeze milk. I would recommend their store brand almond milk in a variety of flavors (chocolate, vanilla, unsweetened).
#14 Tea for Vegans
Lidl’s organic tea blends contain a variety of beneficial herbs. Some blends contain fennel which aids bloating. This would make a great tea for new or transitioning vegans.
#15 Fresh Herbs
I love to use fresh basil for my avocado pesto recipe.
#16 Vegan Quinoa Salad
#17 Chocolate Syrup
The Hersey chocolate syrup and the Lidl store brand chocolate syrup are vegan.
#18 Vegan Ice Cream and Popsicles
The vegan ice cream is made with coconut milk so you will taste a hint of coconut. You can pick between different flavors like cookie dough and chocolate. There are also fruity popsicle options.

#19 Organic Tofu
Lidl carries firm and extra firm organic tofu. For air frying I use the extra firm, for cream sauces I use the firm tofu.
#20 Beyond Meat
Lidl also carries Beyond Meat.
Great protein packed addition for Mediterranean recipes.
#22 Vegan Cookies
Lidl makes finding vegan cookies on a budget easy!
#23 Vegan Cinnamon Roll
Choose jumbo! for the vegan version.
#24 Cruelty Free Beauty
Lidl carries lots of cruelty free beauty products like shampoo, body lotion, hand soap, and more. You can find the bunny on the price label which means no testing on animals.
#25 Vegan YOGURT
Lidl carries a couple of plant based yogurts. When I took the pictures they were all sold out.
Lidl carries raw nuts like almonds and walnuts. Their cashews are salted and roasted. I typically wash the salt off, soak them, then use them for sauces like this Mushroom Stroganoff recipe.
#27 Healthy Grains
Lidl US carries gluten free pasta
#28 Vegan Snack Food
Lidl carries a variety of salsa options.
And delicious, yet frugal, vegan chocolate.
Of course you’ll find potato chips, pretzels, and pita chips.
#29 Frozen Vegetables
I love the edamame beans. They make a great plant based protein source. I add riced cauliflower to sauces and soups to add my daily serving of cruciferous vegetable. Try adding it to a fruit & veggie smoothie.
#30 Maple syrup
A vegan’s favorite sweetener. We use this weekly on our easy and healthy oat waffles.
#31 Frozen Fruits
A necessity for smoothies and oat bowls.
Lidl offers a variety of canned beans including pinto beans, kidney beans, black beans, and also chickpeas and dry beans. I could not find lentils.
